I vote for Sunday the 23rd. If we get buy-in, I'd happily spring for dinner for anyone who shows up.

Comment #2961 by: Dave at about 10:59 on December 12, 2007

Out of town folks are certainly welcome, but we have nor RSVPs from any. I thought with the arrangement of Christmas this year, the weekend prior might be a good time for the screening. I know Adam will be here.

Past holiday parties have been a sit down dinner affair. This time around we are going for more of a sandwich/party food thing. Bring your favorite libation and a snackle or desert to share.

gB: Have you seen the Family guy that makes a couple of references to Speed Racer? Very funny. If you haven't, lemme know and I'll send you a couple of clips.

Comment #2955 by: gB at about 10:51 on December 9, 2007

Speed Racer is either going to be deliriously fun or extra-horrible. Or possibly both. I'm really interested.

Dave described my car as the definition of "cherry" when he saw it. Wade said, "I didn't know they looked that good when they were brand new!" Well -- It's going to sell as it is being auctioned with no reserve. If you want to get in on the action, visit the following linke: Adam's '75 Cordoba on eBay

Oh -- Now that looks like sexy, silly, exciting, super-fun. I'll check that out when it hits the silver screen.

That's a lot of snow!

We got not quite an inch last night. Just enough to be slippery last night and beautiful this morning. Annah was excited that she got to wear snow pants to school.
We're supposed to get another 2-4" tomorrow night.

Comment #2947 by: Adam at about 14:04 on December 5, 2007

Chicago is experiencing something that doesn't happen here that often: Lake Effect Snow. Warm, moist air on the backside of a low pressure system is blowing cold air over the warm-Lake Michigan water creating a more-than-just-flurries snow fall. We're expected to get from two to four more inches of snow on top of the five we got last night.

Lake Michigan often creates lake-effect snow-squalls, but usually they occur in Indiana or Michigan when cold air blows from West to East.

I have to point out, however pretty it is right now as the snow falls, it'll remain pretty for only about six hours after the snow ceases. In the city, the snow quickly becomes a black, slushy, ugly mess.

For now -- It is way cool -- especially this early in the season. I, for one, hope we have a real winter of the likes I recall from childhood.

bo8b - you are penciled in for the next showing!! Congratulation!

Comment #2945 by: Dave at about 10:21 on November 30, 2007

I would be down, but perhaps we should schedule it for a weekend when Bob and Adam would be available. I'll be taking some time off around the holidays and would happy to host a party at that time.

BTW, I believe we are on for another New Years Spectacular this year. I guess they have been less than spectacular lately, but we are getting old. Luckily Adam was able to keep it fresh last year with huge quantities of fog. I do miss you guys. We need to schedule more frequent events once I get my house back into some semblance of order (which at the current rate will be around 2020)

If anyone will be in Chicago sometime soon, they have a new exhibit of interest at the Science and Industry Museum: "Star Wars: Where Science meets Imagination." http://www.msichicago.org/temp_exhibit/starwars/index.html

Attention Quad Cities Type Humans!

Is anything happening this weekend? Would perhaps Dave like to host a private screening of Chris Lackey's award-winning directorial debut - The Chosen One? I've totally got a copy of the film and it's really quite funny and stars Tim Curry, Chad Fifer, Bishop from Aliens, Prince Humperdink and the redhead from That '70's Show.
Oh, and I have a very small yet pivotal cameo.
Anyone? Bueller?

It occured to me that I didn't post instructions on how to play Qix -- and that it is non-obvious.

Click game to activate.
Press Space to start.
Arrow keys to move.
X to draw slow.
Z to draw fast.

I, on the other hand, would enjoy a laptop that runs exclusively on coal. Or possibly steam. Or... (glances around conspiratorially) the nightmares of orphans.

Yes, Caciona and I would enjoy having a laptop that did not run on coal.

Hey Adam,
Whatever happened to the Concern's database? I think it would be smashing to have access once again.

Also, are you still interested in doing a little horse-trading (or more accurately bench/computer trading)? I was able to procure some additional "vintage" lumber and could probably whip one up as an x-mas gift.

Perhaps we should schedule the first annual Adam Pilon appreciation breakfast and love in?

Who is game? Everyone will also have to select a breakfast buddy for coupon usage(and safety, of course).

Thanks for the email.

Keep my email information and call in about 30 days... by then I should have
the car back in Illinois and have a better idea whether my wife is happy
with it.

Regards,
****

So, I'll wait 30 days and make another run for her. The car was in WV, and the new owner lives in Naperville -- so if he does sell it, it's much closer!

Adding that little media player above took me nearly 2 hours! Firefox can be a pain in the ass as it is not nearly as tolerant as some other browsers. I also hate that I now have to load my code into multiple pages to see how it will behave. It can be a pain! You get some functionality working in one browser only to break it in another. As Peanuts characters put it, "Uuuugh!"

Comment #2917 by: Adam at about 12:12 on November 2, 2007

Ummm.. No thanks -- You all know how I handle grief -- I buy cars. The bank said I can have up to $40,000 to buy a car. They sent me a blank check.

Fear not - I don't plan on spending it. The plan is to wait until after the Car Show in February because there are a few cars I'd like to see in person before making a purchase.

The issue I'm having with a new cars is that there is really nothing out there really calling me. I want to see the new BMW 1 this spring.. a BMW 3 would be sweet.. But increasingly, I'm attracted to Mazdas. A 3 perhaps, or Speed6? Or maybe an Acura TSX.

Don't know.
